COVID-19 Update (September 17, 2020)
Starting on September 13th, 2020... we've begun meeting in-person (both indoors and outdoors) for both igNite and Edge. When we meet indoors, we're only meeting in the big/open space found in Westminster Hall. The only entry/exit door we will utilize is our north entrance (by the Chase Bank).
It is very important for us all to be on the same page regarding safety expectations. In accordance with what our church has shared, as well as the State of IL, below you will find a comprehensive summary of our youth ministry safety guidelines. Please read them carefully and know this will likely be the protocol for at least the next 4 months.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. This has been a season unlike any other, and I will continue to do all I can to help our youth to know, love, and follow Jesus as they discover and deepen their friendships with each other.
Prior to Arriving at an official youth sponsored & scheduled activity:
(at this time these activities are limited to igNite, Edge, and small groups)
- If you or a member of your family has been on a commercial flight, in another country, or traveled to a higher risk state (see IL Travel link HERE), then you must wait 10 days until attending igNite or Edge.
Take your temperature. If it is 100.4 or higher, you need to stay home.
If you or someone in your household was exposed to COVID-19, there needs to be a period of two weeks before you can participate in any in-person ministry gathering.
Make sure your leader (Ed, or one of your small groups leaders) knows that you are planning to come. We need to keep accurate attendance for the purposes of potential contact tracing and ensuring safe group sizes for our meeting spaces.
While meeting at church for our indoor gatherings, we will take advantage of the outdoors whenever the weather cooperates with us. Outdoors, as long as we stay at least 6 ft apart from each other, no mask is required.
Social Distancing Guidelines for ALL Youth Ministry Activity:
Bring a mask, and wear it while indoors at all times. This is not optional.
Maintain at least 6ft of distance between non-family/household members.
After using the restroom, remember to always wash your hands with soap and water for at least twenty seconds.
Use the provided hand sanitizer. Repeat whenever you like.
Avoid touching common surfaces with your bare hands (door handles, walls, tables & chairs).
Cover coughs and sneezes with the inside of your elbow.
Refrain from handshakes, hugs, etc.
I know families at the Village Church aren’t all exactly on the same page regarding how they've chosen to respond to the pandemic, but for youth to be able to participate in igNite and Edge in the 2020-2021 ministry season… we will all need to be on the same page as it pertains to guidelines and conduct for official church youth ministry activity. We take the safety and well being of your kids, and your whole family, very seriously. We love you and desire to serve you well! Please email me or call me if you have any questions.
