Eighth-Grade Discipleship and Confirmation
Our eighth-grade discipleship program is designed to bring the vows parents make when their children are baptized to fulfillment by helping students choose, for themselves, to become life-long disciples of Jesus Christ.
All students in 8th grade, regardless of faith, church or denominational background are invited and welcome to participate in this vital program.
At the end of the program (in April) students have the option of being confirmed. At confirmation - students can affirm their personal faith in Christ as Savior and Lord and commit, before God and the church, to lives of obedience to God and engage in active participation in the church. Through confirmation, youth become members of The Village Presbyterian Church.
Requirements and Signing Up
The discipleship program runs through the academic year when youth are in eighth grade. Students are expected to attend Sunday School, participate in small groups with their peers, attend two retreats, and participate in service projects with other students in our youth ministry. More specific details of this are explained to the youth prior to registering.
There is a $75.00 fee for the program. This covers basic materials, Bible, a group t-shirt, and the confirmation dinner. Retreats are an extra expense. Once available in the summer of 2019, please submit the registration fee by the first retreat.
