Eighth-Grade Discipleship and Confirmation
Our eighth-grade discipleship program is designed to bring the vows parents make when their children are baptized to fulfillment by helping students make the Christian faith their own. As they go through this program, they are encouraged to begin a life-long commitment to being disciples of Jesus Christ.
All students in 8th grade, regardless of faith, church, or denominational background are invited and welcome to encounter the Christian faith first hand--joining in the discipleship experience as followers of Jesus.
At the end of the program (in April) students will have the option of being confirmed. At confirmation students affirm their personal faith in Christ as Savior and Lord and commit, before God and the church, to lives of obedience to God and active participation in the church. By going through with confirmation students become members of The Village Presbyterian Church.
Requirements and Signing Up
The discipleship program runs through the academic year students are in eighth grade. Students are expected to attend Sunday School, participate in small groups with peers of their own gender, attend two retreats, and participate in service projects with other students in our youth ministry. All of this will be more fully explained to kids on the first retreat.
There is a $75.00 fee for the program. This covers basic materials, Bible, a group t-shirt, and the confirmation dinner. Retreats are an extra expense. Please submit the registration fee by the first retreat.
