Eighth-Grade Discipleship and Confirmation
Our eighth-grade discipleship program is designed to bring the vows parents make when their children are baptized to fulfillment by helping students choose for themselves to become life-long disciples of Jesus Christ.
All students in 8th grade, regardless of faith, church or denominational background are invited to participate in this vital program.
At the end of the program in April, students have the option of being confirmed. At confirmation - students can affirm their personal faith in Christ as Savior and Lord and commit, before God and the church, to lives of obedience to God and engage in active participation in the church. Through confirmation, youth become members of the Village Presbyterian Church.
Requirements and Signing Up
The discipleship program runs from October through April for youth in eighth grade. Students are expected to attend Sunday School, participate in small groups with their peers, attend two retreats, and participate in service projects with other students in our youth ministry. More specific details are provided in the packet of information provided before registering.
There is a $95.00 fee for the program which covers basic materials, a Bible, a group t-shirt, and the confirmation dinner in late April. Retreats are an additional expense. Completed registration forms and the program fee for the confirmation class of 2020 are due by Sunday, September 15, 2019.
