The Village Presbyterian Church
The TVPC Board of Deacons exists to make a difference in the life of our church community by actively caring for and serving those in need -- the distressed, the forgotten and the friendless -- as a witness to the love of Jesus Christ.
In order to fulfill our mission stated above, we have ministries in five major areas listed below. For information on any deacon ministry, contact us at 5 areas:
COMMUNITY PROJECTS
In our desire to meet various needs of people in the greater Northbrook community, our team collects items for and delivers Refugee Packs to new arrivals to the United States, collects and disburses donations for Food and Funds for Northfield Food Pantry, and oversees other church donation projects such as the Clothing Closet and Soup Labels for Education.
RESOURCES
It is our goal to provide helpful resources and links to resources for TVPC’s friends and members. We are hosting a number of luncheons for those caught in the “Sandwich Generation” – those adults who are responsible for the care of their parents as well as their children. In addition to that we coordinate various ‘helping hands’ efforts, the Meals on Wings program, and the Career Resources Ministry.
HOSPITALITY
Our goal is to coordinate various hospitality efforts to make TVPC a more welcoming environment, with special attention to Sunday Morning fellowship times after each service.
DEACON SHEPHERDING PROGRAM
In an effort to encourage member involvement we shepherd new members during their first years at the Village Church. In addition, we coordinate Neighborhood Church Contacts who act as liaisons to the church with people in their neighborhood.
FELLOWSHIP EVENTS
Throughout the year, we develop events at TVPC to foster fellowship for members of the congregation. In the past these have included barbecues, dinners, and other types of get-together's.
