OUR MISSION STATEMENT February, 1996
At a time when positive and wholesome influences
are urgently needed, we believe that The Village Presbyterian Church must
fulfill a more vital role, both in our daily lives and in the world about
us. As we follow our personal faith journeys in life, we know we must
respond to a higher calling—to something greater than ourselves.
We affirm it to be our goal to glorify God and, in Christ's name, to do
all in our power to make our church a relevant force and a shining beacon
in today's secular world.
Toward the accomplishment of this purpose,
we shall continue to make the Holy Scriptures the linchpin for all church
endeavors—worship, fellowship, spiritual growth, stewardship
of our talents and resources, missions, outreach, and service to God and
people. The underlying principles of our faith—belief in God's Word,
in Christ as our Lord and Savior, in the Holy Trinity, the efficacy and
power of prayer, gratitude for God's gifts of Love, Grace and guidance
in our lives, and the worth and uniqueness of each of God's children—remain
unshaken and reaffirmed. As we travel the road to our goal we shall strive,
both as individuals and as members of God's Church, to apply and exemplify
Christian values and ideals in the way we act, speak, and serve.
Our vision acknowledges that we must resolutely
plan for tomorrow's challenges as we build upon our proud heritage. We
foresee The Village Presbyterian Church ever-growing as an open, friendly,
and diverse community of God's children using their individual gifts and
talents in loving, Christian service. Our church will flourish in an exciting,
magnetic, spiritual environment that will attract, invigorate and stimulate
members and non-members of all ages to be joyful couriers of God's message
to the world.
