“There is one body and one Spirit--Just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism.” Ephesians 4:4-5Baptism is a sign of the salvation we receive through the grace of Jesus Christ, as we share in his death and resurrection. Baptism doesn’t make a person a believer – nor does it “save” a person - only faith in Jesus Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring — it’s the outward symbol of an inner commitment. Like circumcision for the Jews, baptism is a ritual that incorporates an individual into the covenant family (the church). Parents who acknowledge Jesus as Lord are encouraged to present their children for baptism, anticipating that one day the children’s baptisms will be confirmed when they make a public profession of faith in Christ. Youth or adults who have not been baptized before are encouraged to receive this sacrament when they make a public profession in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. For more information about Baptisms at TVPC, or to schedule one for you or a family member, please contact the parish office at tvpchurch@tvpchurch.org.
Baptisms can be scheduled at either service and are held in the Sanctuary. January 20 | |
