“Making the Shift” Conference
May 5-7, 2017
Invest 8 hours in a Thriving and Healthy Future!
This spring the Village Church of Northbrook takes the first steps in discerning ways we can better connect with both our surrounding culture and younger generations. Our recent Mission Study has set our course by identifying three major "shifts" that many thriving and heathy churches in America are making today.
Our presenter, Mark Tidsworth, holds workshops around the nation training mainline congregations to engage their surrounding cultures with the gospel. In his book, Shift: Three Big Moves for the 21st Century Church, he writes:
"It may not be the quality or level of effort holding the church back--it may be the church's paradigm. When we observe the results of our efforts at being and doing church declining, one explanation may be that we are working from a paradigm which no longer connects with our culture. This is not about being unfaithful to the gospel by adopting the moral values of a secular culture. This is about recognizing the ways people relate, communicate and engage the world are different than before."
